This week prepare your yoga days by designating a practice tag line for each day of the week. The labels not only provide a preset plan but also assure that during the week the practice will be variable and well rounded.
Here are my suggestions. Feel free to use these labels or tweak them to suit your own needs/preferences:
Sunday – Sun Salutation: Find a variation of this sequence that works for you.
Monday – Meditation: Check out this technique for guidance.
Tuesday – Tutor: Use something from a class you’ve learned or pick up an online program.
Wednesday – Warrior: This is a day to be fierce. Choose a pose that you would like to master and move toward it. Honor your limitations and stay in your lane.
Thursday – Theme: Choose a specific asana subject like backbends, forward bends, inversions, hip openers, arm balances, etc.
Friday – Freedom: A true “go with the flow” day to get on your mat and do what you feel you need to do. This is a tough one but important for developing your own practice. Put some music on and just let yourself get carried away…
For success, follow these two rules:
1.) Only practice for 10 minutes per day.
2.) Try to make it the first thing you do each day (after a cup of tea perhaps).
By labeling your practice days, you may find that you are more motivated. With a “plan” you are more apt to stay on course with your practice – getting off track can derail you for quite some time. This plan is also designed to keep things fresh so you will look forward to your practice each and every day. A short, daily habit is what I have found to be the key to consistency.
